On Nov. 3, Iranian journalist Houshang Asadi visited Freedom House to discuss his powerful memoir Letters to My Torturer. Published in June 2010, Letters to My Torturer details the horrific treatment Asadi experienced during his six years of wrongful imprisonment following the Islamic revolution. In his remarks, Asadi says, "[M]y experiences during the six years I spent behind bars are not very different from the way thousands of others are treated in Iranian prisons today. Today, however, their treatment is even worse."
