Civil Society Demands a Voice in World Internet Policy Process

Freedom House has joined human rights groups around the world in calling for increased civil society participation in preparing for the World Conference on International Telecommunications. Some governments reportedly have proposed changes to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) regulations that could negatively impact online freedom of expression, access to information, and privacy. The demand for a more transparent policy process was made in a letter co-signed by Freedom House to ITU Secretary-General, Hamadoun Touré.
