Commending U.S. Leadership at the UN Human Rights Council
October 6, 2010
Freedom House and six other prominent human rights organizations issued a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton commending the United States for the positive role it played during the recently concluded 15th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. In particular, the group pointed to what it noted were “significant accomplishments” that could not have occurred without the leadership of the United States, including a resolution creating a new mandate for freedom of peaceful assembly and association, and renewed special mandates for Sudan and Somalia.
