Egyptian Fellows Meet with U.S. Secretary of State

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told media she was honored to meet with a group of Egyptian activists in Washington May 28 as part of Freedom House’s New Generation program. The fellows called on President Obama to meet with young independent civil society activists when he visits Cairo next week and to help open the space for nongovernmental organizations in Egypt. Clinton assured them that she and President Obama would raise democracy and human rights issues in their talks with senior Egyptian officials. Read her remarks.
