Freedom House Asks Supercommittee to Protect Foreign Affairs Funding

On August 30th Freedom House joined twelve other organizations in sending a letter to the appointed members of the congressional “Supercommittee” tasked with undertaking future budget cuts. The letter asked Supercommittee members to protect foreign affairs funding which has already been cut by 20%. The Supercommittee members are: Senators Max Baucus (D-MT), John Kerry (D-MA), John Kyl (R-AZ), Patty Murray (D-WA), Rob Portman (R-OH), Pat Toomey (R-PA); and House Members Xavier Becerra (D-CA), Dave Camp (R-MI), Jim Clyburn (D-SC), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), and Fred Upton (R-MI).
