A group of 15 academics and bloggers from China and Hong Kong attended a workshop on internet governance sponsored by Freedom House June 15-17 in Hong Kong. The participants called for greater communication among Chinese internet users, global internet governance forums, the Chinese government, and the international community. The key issues raised include censorship, intellectual property rights, international and Chinese regulatory frameworks and legal protections for bloggers. China is rated Not Free in Freedom on the Net.
