Freedom House Meets with Konrad Adenauer Foundation on NGO Verdict

Member of the European Parliament and Chairman of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Hans-Gert Poettering and Freedom House President David J. Kramer met in Brussels on Wednesday to discuss the crackdown on civil society organizations in Egypt. The Cairo offices of the German and American organizations, as well as other foreign NGOs, were shut down in December 2011 and their employees were recently convicted by Egyptian authorities in the June 4 NGO trial. Poettering and Kramer pledged to work together to seek a positive solution to the problem. Read more about Egypt here.
