Freedom House Testimony: Impact of Iran's Crisis on OSCE Neighbors
July 16, 2009
Recent political unrest in Iran is likely to exacerbate negative trends already present in former Soviet states, said Freedom House Executive Director Jennifer Windsor in testimony today before the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, or U.S. Helsinki Commission. Windsor cited newly-released findings from Nations in Transit 2009 which shows democratic declines in 18 out of 29 former communist countries covered in the report.
