Mobile Technology Puts User Security at Risk

Repressive governments can monitor mobile phones and restrict internet access far beyond our expectations, putting user safety and privacy at risk, according to a new report released by Freedom House and the Broadcasting Board of Governors.  Mobile phone users are vulnerable to highly intrusive surveillance—autocratic regimes can track users’ movements and activate microphones remotely on mobile devices.
