Uganda’s new ‘HIV Prevention and Control Act’ is yet a further step in the Ugandan government’s flagrant disregard of human rights.

Given Uganda's Anti-Homosexuality Law and the serious flaws in its draft guidelines for access to health by LGBTI persons, the release of this loan would be the height of irresponsibility.

Freedom in Sub-Saharan Africa 2007

Freedom House released an analysis of democracy in sub-Saharan Africa showing that the region has experienced notable increases in freedom over the past generation, although more setbacks than gains were seen in 2006.
