Freedom House invites you to a briefing:
Crackdown in China: Implications for President Xi's U.S. Visit

As President Obama prepares to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping to the White House in late September, President Xi is undertaking the most intense crackdown on Chinese civil society in more than two decades.

Our panel will provide an overview of the current situation and address a number of important questions, including: What is the current context of crackdown? Who is being targeted and what is happening to them? Has repression worsened under President Xi? What opportunities or challenges will President Xi’s visit to the U.S. present for addressing human rights in China? How can President Obama and the U.S. Congress more effectively engage the Chinese government more effectively?
