Global press freedom declined to its lowest point in 12 years in 2015, as political, criminal, and terrorist forces sought to co-opt or silence the media in their broader struggle for power.
Please join us for a discussion with a distinguished panel on the causes of the global decline in press freedom highlighted in the latest edition of Freedom of the Press. Join the conversation using #fhpressfreedom.
Prior to the panel discussion, the Newseum will unveil the newly updated world press freedom map located in the Newseum’s Time Warner World News Gallery at 9:00 a.m. with introductory remarks by Representative Albio Sires (D-NJ), Jeffrey Herbst, president of the Newseum, and Mark P. Lagon, president of Freedom House.
