Elena Milashina is an award-winning investigative Russian journalist for the renowned publication Novaya Gazeta. Igor Kochetkov is the chairman of the Russian LGBT Network, an NGO that works to promote equal rights and respect for human dignity, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.

Join us to learn the story of how Elena and Igor exposed the torture of young gay men in Chechnya and played a pivotal role in their escape. Elena and Igor are truly "lights amidst the darkness" and will guide a discussion of the importance of investigative journalism and the vital role rapid emergency assistance can have for LGBT equality in the most dire situations.
