Lauren Galacia manages the Asia program. Prior to joining Freedom House, she oversaw the development and implementation of citizen engagement programs throughout Asia and Eurasia, with a focus on Thailand and Burma. During Burma’s 2012 by-elections, she collaborated with civil society organizations to identify gender-related barriers to political participation and organize a marketplace voter education project that targeted women. Earlier, she lived in western India while working to increase the capacity of grassroots development organizations. Lauren holds a B.A.in Communication Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles and a M.A. in Asia Pacific Policy Studies from the University of British Columbia.
