Lynn Fredriksson is currently the Director of Southern Africa at Freedom House. Previously, Lynn served as the Director of the Emergency Assistance Programs, overseeing the Lifeline: Embattled CSOs Assistance Fund and the new Dignity for All: LGBTI Assistance Program. Prior to this, she was most recently posted with the UN Somalia Eritrea Monitoring Group in Nairobi as the humanitarian specialist on Somalia. Before that she served as the Researcher on the Horn of Africa with Amnesty International’s International Secretariat, and Amnesty International USA’s Advocacy Director for Africa. She has traveled and worked extensively in East Africa and the Horn, and has also conducted work in and on Central Africa, SE Asia, Eurasia, the Middle East and Latin America. She holds a BA from Williams College and a Masters from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and is currently completing her doctoral dissertation in Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on Somaliland and national self-determination struggles.
