Chief Financial Officer
Mark serves as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for Freedom House, where he is responsible for financial reporting and controls, risk management, human resources, information technology, and office operations.
Prior to his appointment in July 2017, Mark provided interim and part-time Chief Financial Officer (CFO) services, principally to non-profit organizations, where he implemented the business practices acquired during his 25+ year career as a senior finance officer with several international publicly-listed companies, primarily in the media and telecom sectors. He began his non-profit service in 2008 upon being appointed Chief Financial Officer for the Institute of International Education, administrator of the U.S. Department of State's Fulbright Scholarship and other international education programs.
Outside of Freedom House, Mark serves as a Board Trustee and Audit Committee Chair overseeing a family of mutual funds. During his consulting years, he also lectured as an adjunct professor of accounting at a regional university.
Highlights of Mark's 30+ years as a non-profit volunteer have included Scoutmaster of a Boy Scout troop; Board Treasurer of a regional Boy Scout council; and chair of his church’s finance committee.
Mark obtained his BBA in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA in Finance from New York University; he is also a CPA.
