Press freedom is guaranteed in the constitution. All broadcast media are government-owned and generally reflect official views. Privatizing of broadcast media has been planned. Libel laws are strict but are rarely used to harass the press. More than a dozen private newspapers provide diverse views, often highly critical of both government and opposition politicians.
