Mary Hopkins
Former Research Associate, Europe and Eurasia
Mary was a research associate covering Europe and Eurasia for Nations in Transit and Freedom in the World. Prior to joining Freedom House, Mary studied at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where she earned a master’s in international relations, concentrating on conflict management and security studies. While there, she served as the D.C. Bureau Chief for The SAIS Observer, following a period as a staff writer. Previously, Mary also held marketing, event-planning, and public relations positions at Albright Stonebridge Group, Johns Hopkins University SAIS, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Transitions, a Prague-based English-language journal and media development organization. Additionally, Mary also holds a BS in Media, Culture and Communication from New York University.
