Aimee Chen

Program Manager, Europe & Eurasia Programs

Aimee Wenyue Chen is the Program Manager for Europe & Eurasia Programs at Freedom House. In her role, she focuses on Freedom House's programmatic strategy in Armenia and Ukraine, which has programming on documentation and accountability, freedom of expression, rights of LGBTQI+ communities and national minorities, and support for civic activists and human rights defenders, among others. She is a human rights practitioner who brings twelve years of experience working in various governments and think tanks across the globe on human rights and protection and inclusion of marginalized communities. Prior to Freedom House, she was a Fulbright Public Policy Fellow in Ukraine where she supported the Ukrainian Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories on its programming for the conflict-affected population. She has also worked with the governments of Japan and Bulgaria and with civil society and researchers in Turkey and the United States on support to refugee and immigrant populations, ethnic and religious minorities, and LGBTQI+ communities. Aimee speaks Russian, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. She obtained her Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts from University of California, Berkeley.
