Yana Gorokhovskaia
Director, Research and Analysis
Yana leads the Research and Analysis team at Freedom House. She’s the author of over a dozen research reports, and her analysis has been published in Foreign Affairs, The Guardian, Time Magazine, The Washington Post, Politico, Journal of Democracy, Just Security, The Boston Globe, Huffington Post, Post-Soviet Affairs, PS: Political Science and Politics, Russian Politics, Democratization, The Diplomat, Russian Analytical Digest, Moscow Times, Political Research Exchange, Ponars Policy Memos, and International Migration. Prior to joining Freedom House in 2021, Yana was a post-doctoral fellow at Columbia University. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of British Columbia.
