Congress Should Not Bar Entry of Syrian Refugees

Freedom House issued the following statement in response to Congressional efforts to restrict the entry of Syrian refugees to the United States.

In response to Congressional efforts to restrict the entry of Syrian refugees to the United States, Freedom House released the following statement:

“It’s seriously misguided to link restrictions on Syrian refugees to national security,” said Daniel Calingaert, executive vice president. “Barriers to entry for Syrian refugees won’t deter terrorists determined to attack the United States but will prolong the suffering of thousands attempting to flee the brutality of ISIS and Syrian President Assad’s government, including religious minorities, LGBTI persons, and women and children.”
