Washington

In response to the introduction in the U.S. Senate of the “End Modern Slavery Initiative” bill, sponsored by Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) and Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) to combat human trafficking, Freedom House issued the following statement:

"Human trafficking is modern day slavery and is the starkest violation of freedom that exists," said Mark P. Lagon, president of Freedom House.  “This legislation would create a nimble foundation that unites governments, nonprofits, and the private sector to combat slavery. I applaud Senators Corker and Menendez for their strong stand against trafficking, and I urge swift passage of this legislation."
