United States: Freedom House Urges Scrutiny of Russian Election Interference

Washington

Following Attorney General William Barr’s release of his summary conclusions from Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections, Freedom House issued the following statement:

“It is essential that Congress and the American people see the full Mueller report itself, and not a four-page summary,” said Michael J. Abramowitz, president of Freedom House. “We should not overlook the important fact that this investigation, once again, found that Russia, a foreign power, interfered in the US presidential election. Only through access to the report’s details can we reach a full understanding of the magnitude of Russia’s interference. The release of the full report details will shed light on Russia’s goals, motives, and methods. Of special importance, we need the report to further guide the reforms needed to ensure that honesty, fairness, and non-interference prevail in future elections.”
