U.S. Names Special Envoy for Human Rights of LGBT Persons

The U.S. State Department named Randy Berry as Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBT Persons.

Washington

In response to the State Department naming Randy Berry as Special Envoy for the Human Rights of LGBT Persons, Freedom House released the following statement: 

“We applaud the administration advancing human rights for the LGBT community by naming a special envoy who can help make the support of human rights for the LGBT community a priority in U.S. foreign policy,” said Robert Herman, vice-president for programs. “The Special Envoy can enable the administration to more effectively reduce violence, protect universal human rights, and promote the dignity of all people.”

The United States is rated Free in Freedom in the World 2015, Free in Freedom of the Press 2014, and Free in Freedom on the Net 2014
