- In January, Claude Palmero, a longtime asset manager for Prince Albert II who had been compelled to step down amid corruption allegations in 2023 and subsequently sued for reinstatement and compensation, shared his records with French media, revealing the opaque financial dealings and lavish spending habits of the ruling family. In September, after being dismissed as state secretary for justice, Sylvie Petit-Leclair threatened to expose alleged corruption among the prince’s close associates.
- In April, members of the National Council voted to remove Brigitte Boccone-Pagès as the legislative body’s president. She had become the first woman to hold the post in 2022. Lawmakers replaced her with Thomas Brezzo in a vote of 22–0.
- In June, the Financial Action Task Force added Monaco to its grey list for reported deficiencies in its safeguards against money laundering and terrorist financing. Separately in July, a report from the Council of Europe’s Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) noted significant shortcomings in the government’s integrity and anticorruption frameworks, observing that key rules did not yet apply to all executive officials; among other recommendations, the report called for greater transparency on the prince’s activities and external contacts, and on the appointment of senior officials.
- In September, former French Agriculture Minister Didier Guillaume was appointed as Monaco’s minister of state, or head of government. He replaced Pierre Dartout, who had held the position since 2020.
