Watch live as Freedom House hosts a special event honoring the fifth president of Georgia, H.E. Salome Zourabichvili, as the recipient of the 2026 Mark Palmer Prize, recognizing her principled leadership and steadfast commitment to democratic values during a pivotal moment for Georgia and the broader struggle for freedom in Europe. Named for the late Ambassador Mark Palmer—a longtime Freedom House trustee and leading advocate for democratic transitions around the world—the prize honors diplomats and public servants who have gone beyond the normal course of their duties to defend fundamental freedoms, support civil society, and strengthen democratic institutions. President Zourabichvili’s principled leadership and steadfast support for democratic governance, civic freedoms, and Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic future have made her a powerful voice for democracy at a time of mounting pressure on free societies worldwide. The evening will bring together diplomats, policymakers, civil society leaders, and members of the international democracy community to celebrate the enduring importance of courageous, values-driven leadership in the global struggle for freedom.
The evening’s program will feature:
- Welcome remarks by Freedom House CEO Jamie Fly
- Bipartisan introductory remarks from members of Congress
- Presentation of the Mark Palmer Prize by Dr. Sushma Palmer
- Acceptance remarks and a fireside conversation with President Zourabichvili moderated by Josh Rogin of The Washington Post
