PANEL: President Reagan’s Westminster Address at 40
Named in honor of President Reagan’s speech before the British Parliament at Westminster on June 8, 1982, the event commemorates the historic speech and showcase the findings and recommendations of the bipartisan Westminster 2.0 Working Group. Freedom House Executive Vice President Nicole Bibbins Sedaca will be featured panelist.
Reagan Institute’s Center for Freedom & Democracy is hosting an event Wednesday, June 1celebrating the 40th anniversary of President Reagan’s historic Westminster Address. The event coincides with the publication of a forthcoming report from the Reagan Institute’s Westminster 2.0 Working Group. There will be a limited in-person audience for this event alongside wider online viewership.
The Honorable Uzra Zeya, Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights will deliver remarks at the event and participate in a moderated conversation with Reagan Institute Director Roger Zakheim. A panel discussion will follow featuring the findings and recommendations of the bipartisan Working Group. Panelists will include Freedom House Executive Vice President Nicole Bibbins Sedaca, Working Group co-chairs Ambassador Mark Green, President and CEO of the Wilson Center, and Mr. Kenneth Wollack, Chairman of the National Endowment for Democracy, as well as other Working Group members.
The event will take place at the Ronald Reagan Institute in Washington, DC, located at 850 16th Street NW, from 3:00pm - 5:00pm ET.
Named in honor of President Reagan’s speech before the British Parliament at Westminster on June 8, 1982, the Westminster 2.0 Working Group has examined how to modernize efforts to promote freedom in the context of 21st-century challenges and opportunities, from rising authoritarianism to emerging technologies.
