Matt Hooper

Matt Hooper was the interim Vice President of Communications at Freedom House until April 2025. He previously served as the organization's Director of Digital Communications, leading and implementing strategy for the organization's websites, social media channels, graphic design, and publishing. Matt served in a similar capacity for consulting firms based in Dallas, Texas: Cyber Defense Labs and Saxony Partners. He served as a communications and marketing executive for the American Heart Association for 7 years, where he was recognized as a top performer in communications management and fundraising. A native of Birmingham, Ala., Matt graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in journalism and political science. He's an avid reader and runner.
