China Media Bulletin

In this issue: Beijing has avoided accountability for its atrocities against Uyghurs so far, but it remains vulnerable to democratic pushback. The historic 20th Party Congress opened in Beijing alongside propaganda, censorship, intimidation, and a public act of dissent. The China Media Bulletin is directed by Sarah Cook, Freedom House Senior Research Analyst for East Asia, who authors each issue’s featured article and manages the editorial team producing the bulletin.
